The BDIH Standard seal was introduced in February 2001 by the BDIH (International Organic and Natural Cosmetics Corporation), an association founded in 1951 in Germany by the union of numerous manufacturers of cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, supplements, food products and products for the personal hygiene. With this certification it is certified that the product follows the strict standards set by BDIH for organic, natural and safe products for health. The directives extend to all aspects of production, from the cultivation or extraction of raw materials, to processing to bottling and conservation.

These are some of the main directives:

only natural raw materials are used, possibly from cultivation or harvesting of controlled bioloogical species;
products derived from animals are completely banned;
the products are completely cruelty-free;
there are no synthetic perfumes, dyes (for foodstuffs, only natural pigments are permitted for cosmetics), petroleum derivatives and silicones;
only some preservatives of natural origin are allowed;
Radioactive irradiation is prohibited.
