Nickel tested evolution 12 M … A new way of conceiving the nickel tested of Laboratoires BeWell

We’ll talk with Dr. Federica Giuzio, Pharmacist Cosmetologist of the BeWell Laboratories.

Nickel is not an ingredient used in cosmetics, but it may be present in traces deriving from the raw materials with which the product is formulated and from the same processing processes to which the cosmetic is subjected.

Nickel allergy is nowadays one of the most common contact allergies and its incidence seems to be increasing, probably because we are more and more often in contact with it. The objects in common use that can contain this metal and therefore give an allergic reaction are the costume jewelry (earrings, bracelets, necklaces, hair clips), the buttons in the clothes but also some cosmetics, especially eye shadows, mascara and lipsticks, both for their formulation rich in pigments of mineral origin, both for the area of particularly sensitive application near mucous membranes.
Recall that nickel may be present in traces, ie there may be contamination resulting from low purity of ingredients or the use of instruments or containers that release it during production and packaging.

As a further guarantee of whoever is allergic, there are “nickel tested” products but not nickel free because it is impossible to guarantee the complete absence of nickel contamination. In fact, it is important to underline that the limit of uncertainty of the detection method is such that we are able to guarantee at most a quantity not exceeding 1 ppm. This means that out of a million total particles, the product in question contains only one nickel. This will not however exclude an allergic reaction in a subject, but the risk will be significantly reduced. For products that do not rinse, that is to say a lot of time in contact with the skin, such as creams, the risk of provoking a sensitization reaction is much higher than a rinse-off product.

But the novelty we want to offer you is a new way of conceiving the “Nickel tested”. With the normal tests it is not certain that this warranty is such for the entire duration of the duration and use of the cosmetic, and above all .. Nikel’s concentration can be different in the various layers of product, for example, in contact with the Nikel packaging can result in higher concentrations. For this reason we have developed a new analytical methodology that allows us, through serial analysis on the cosmetic, to guarantee the nickel tested for the duration of the duration indicated by the Pao (period of validity of the cosmetic following the opening) and on all the various product layers, from the most superficial to the one in contact with the pack. All Veg-Up make-up cosmetics, which lasted 12 months after opening, underwent strict controls during their “product durability” and maintained the standards imposed by the nickel tested all the time from the most superficial layer until the last layer of product in contact with the aluminum plate. A revolution in the world of organic cosmetics, above all to guarantee the consumer that we protect in the use of the product for all its “shelf-life”.
